VSCC 24-Hour Trial 2015

Team 5: Vincenzo Lancia’s Larrikins

Four Pre-War Lancia’s made up one of nine teams in this year’s 24 Hour Trial hosted by the Vintage Sporting Car Club (Vic).  This Event is held every second year and encourages all-comers to form a teamand compete over a 24 hour period in a “Trial” resulting in a winner (naturally) who will be victorious and take on the task of organizing and planning the next bi-ennial event.

“Trials” of approximately 3-4 hour duration are staggered over the period. Team members gather information as they drive through the day and/or night with the assistance of the ‘Navigator”. “Sleep is optional”. Depending on the success of these tasks, points are awarded (or deducted) and a winner is announced the day after the challenge commenced.

Team Lancia, lead by ALR member John Brenan, did not disgrace on this occasion. Second overall and first in the Pre-War class.

Together with John’s 4th Lambda, Mark McKibbin (6th California Top) and I drove our Lambda’s. In between marshaling commitments, (AND NO SLEEP) Andrew (Coxy) Cox flung his 1938 Aprilia around with gusto. Our navigators were David Couper, Daniel Clarke, Alec Redpath and Andrew McDougall. Of course they deserve ALL the credit. Sleep deprived, all we as drivers had to do was point the Lancia in the direction most suitable…

Fellow Lancisti Rob Alsop navigated for Uncle Mark for one of the opposition teams… Rob’s 1919 Kappa will attend a future 24-hour trial without question. In the meantime, a ride back to Melbourne in the back of my Lambda was agreeable, according to the two thumbs up!

May Day Rally

Photos from the May Day run which finished at the Maroondah Reservoir Park. Autumn is in full flush and the cars are looking good. Again, a nice variety of vehicles, including some non-Lancias, since the invitation was extended to the VSCC. (Text and Photos from Australian Lancia Register Facebook page)
